When offered the opportunity to review Unpacked: From PEI to Palawan by Mo Duffy Cobb, I was interested immediately. Between the process of recovering from intense grief, and the journey of traveling across the world with a toddler, Cobb piqued my interest from the very first chapter. Her recollection of how she unexpectedly became a mother and drastically changed her lifestyle was honest, and her guilt of her stillborn death of her second child was heart wrenching. Her adventure across the world was a flurry of emotions and frustrations as only someone traveling with a toddler could understand.
Through her grief, she chronicled her travels in a way which painted pictures of busy markets, beautiful beaches, and the connections she made with local mothers. Cobb’s story was not just a story of travel, but also of recovery. Her story was unique, brave and interesting from start to finish.
