One night during bedtime, Grace tells her dad all about her day. For a little girl, her day didn’t go very well. Her favorite cereal was all gone, her favorite shirt was dirty, and her Mom got mad with her when she acted out. Then to top it off, her mom sent her to her bedroom for a time out. And this made Grace want to run away from home. And so she does just that. In the end, of course, she finds her very own special place that is just perfect for when you are having one of those days.
This is such a sweet and funny story for children. It reads like a conversation between a little girl and her dad. The author uses different colored fonts for each character’s voice and the pictures mimic the storyline making it very easy for little ones to follow. The Day I Ran Away will be sure to keep kids engaged and will teach them the importance of following rules and listening to parents. And, hopefully, they will also learn that there really is no place like home. Full of bright and cheerful illustrations with big and bold words, this picture book is sure to be a winner for children between the ages of 4 and 6.
