“Scribbles and Ink : The Contest” is a fun children’s book that has appeal for children of all ages. It’s a story of a cat named Scribbles (drawn as a scribble) and a mouse named Ink (drawn in black ink). Scribbles and Ink are entering a dinosaur drawing contest. Each of them draws their own idea of a dinosaur but neither drawing is suitable for the contest. At first they are disappointed to miss out on the great muddy prize but in the end they realize that being friends is the best prize of all.
The illustrations in this book are simple but fun and use only 5 or 6 different colors. The story is fun and easy to read. All of text in the story is in the form of speech balloons. My 8 year old liked the story but I think it would be suitable for younger children as well. We will definitely be searching the library for other adventures of Scribbles and Ink.
