This book is about an artist in 19th century Newfoundland who is arrested for a crime of forgery and sentenced to time at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary in St. John’s. When a governor hears about this artist and his talent, he makes an unusual arrangement. This story about crime and passion is inspired by true events.
This book is not what I had expected from reading the cover. I expected more drama and more suspense. The whole time I was reading it I was waiting for something exciting or interesting to occur. However, sadly that did not happen. I did enjoy reading about the streets and some of the locations in St. John’s that did make the book a little more bearable as I could place myself driving or walling those streets today. Other than that, I was very disappointed in this book.
