Gary and his mom and sister are travelling to Newfoundland by ferry. They meet Peter and his parents and decide to travel together across the beautiful island. Join them on an educational journey as they explore many of Newfoundland’s well known attractions – including Gros Morne mountain in Gros Morne National Park, the Viking village at L’Anse aux Meadows, the lighthouse in Bonavista, and Cabot Tower on Signal Hill. They see tarantulas, butterflies, salmon, and Newfoundland ponies. They learn about Aboriginal culture, nature, and geology. Gary and his family learn so much and are entertained by all the glorious sights, sounds and colors.
Colorful landscapes and bright illustrations are eye catching and provide a realistic portrayal of all the attractions the province has to offer. Children can learn about the island of Newfoundland, parents/teachers can use this as a teaching tool, and family vacations can easily be inspired by this book. It would make a wonderful additional to any child’s bookshelf.
